![]() The D was basically a space frame with a bunch of fitted modules sitting in a structural integrity field and contained by hull plating. I think I even remember reading a book set before TMP where the saucer was on either Earth or the Moon for part of the refit.īy TNG times the space frames were the only things that weren't modular and interchangeable. Remember too even the original series Enterprise had a detachable saucer, and the nacelles were meant to come off too. Ultimately that's all that counts for ships. I'd go with the saucer and engineering hull space frames were all that was original. Of course, even Decker said "This is almost a totally new Enterprise" before he touched some cadets and went to hide from the cops in V'ger. The best that people who put way too much thought into this can come up with, there were pieces of the original Enterprise left in the refit, but everything major was brand new. They said it was the same ship as the TV show but there's no refit that would change every square foot. There are other good fan works out there too, but I've enjoyed the work of this crew and wanted to pass it along.įirstNationalBastard: Mugato: FirstNationalBastard: /of course, was the "original" Enterprise really the classic Enterprise anymore after the refit? * Crafted original stories that are truer to the ethos than Star Trek Into Derpness ever was, Kirk was a colonel in the PA Reserve Regiment, * Placed the captain and the doctor in the American Civil War, a war where the real-life James T. * Managed to get Lou "The Incredible Hulk" Ferrigno green again, * Also followed-up Who Mourns for Adonis featuring actor Michael Forest, who played Apollo in the 1967 episode, * Done a follow-up to Mirror, Mirror in the mirror universe, I approached it like I would approach seeing a popular play performed by a community theater: They're never going to rise to the level of Broadway, but nevertheless I generally enjoy the production and leave happy. It's fan work, and they're doing good work overall. After a while, you actually sorta like the way the guy handles the character. Chris Doohan plays his dad's character Scotty quite well, too. Having an Asian Spock is. the guy playing Kirk does a really decent job. The production values are spot-on for the 1960s productions, including sets, lighting and music. If you had any appreciation or nostalgia for The Original Series, give Star Trek: Continues a chance. Had more laughs, belly laughs even, from that show than any other in 4+ decades. It was polished and consistently delivered the goods. Yes, all have/had their moments, but something about SG:1's writers and the cast clicked when it came to teh funny. I'd just like to add that SG:1's humor stood out more than any other sci-fi show. Hence, we are currently at the not at all stage.) (Because damn it if you're going to do something, do it right or not at all. ![]() Worse I think I want to watch it chronologically which means swapping episodes of everything in the 24th century back and forth. That said, I always tell myself I'm going to watch "all of star trek" but the sheer volume is daunting even if I mentally break it up into series. Unortunately their last show "Universe" tried to cross breed the optimistic problem solving attitude of the Star Gate series with the bleak and grey morality of "Battlestar Gallactica" and the hybrid creature it created was not meant for life on our world.Īlways loved Stargate, but have trouble powering through an entire series rewatch, I think anything with more than 4-5 seasons is a huge ask if you reaaaaaaaaally want to shotgun it (and man, I don't know why I force myself to watch the clip shows, they're made much more difficult when you saw the episode those clips were from 5 hours ago.geez guys how many times can I watch Jack tell Teal'c that he can stay at his house?) I would say that "Atlantis" was better at being "Voyager" than "Voyager" was. Sadly, even though SG-1 has a lot of things which would make it very palatable to general audiences (contemporary setting, heroic military, a reworking of classic mythology that is just familiar enough that people don't feel alienated) it never caught on beyond its dedicated fanbase and a lot of casual science fiction fans. I saw most of it back in the day, and while it does have its moments, it's generally far better than the worst Trek. Rocketboy1313: iron de havilland: I wouldn't call it binge-watching, but I'm re-watching Stargate: SG-1.
